Achievements of Islamic Revolution in Different Modes of Transport
At the dawn of 44th anniversary of Islamic Revolution in Iran, on February 11, Ministry of Roads and Urban Development and its affiliated companies inaugurate various transport projects and report on their performance.
The performance of transport sectors including the maritime, rail, and road sectors before Islamic Revolution in 1979 and in 2022 indicate impressive progress in four indicators in each sector.
Achievements of Islamic Revolution in the Maritime Sector
In the maritime sector, four indicators of loading and unloading operations, passenger capacity of ports, commercial capacity of ports, and container operations of ports show 900, 4900, 1336, 3617 percent growth respectively with detailed statistics as follows:
Loading and unloading operations
Before Revolution: 15 million tons
After Revolution: 150 million tons
Passenger capacity of ports
Before Revolution: 500,000 passengers
After Revolution: 25,000,000 passengers
Commercial capacity of ports
Before Revolution: 19 million tons
After Revolution: 273 million tons
Container operations of ports
Before Revolution: 58 thousand TEU
After Revolution: 2,156 thousand TEU
Achievements of Islamic Revolution in the Railway Sector
In the railway sector, four indicators of number of locomotives, export freights, length of railways, and rail passenger transport show 134, 9945, 158, 288 percent growth respectively with detailed statistics as follows:
